Where to watch 2018 Tour de France Austin TX

Though Volkswagen has been a strong supporter of USA cycling in the past, the automaker has put a stronger emphasis on its motorsports focus for 2018. This doesn’t mean cycling enthusiasts in the Austin, TX area can’t find plenty of great places to watch the 2018 Tour de France, which is happening right now. Unlike the World Cup, which is a sensation even here in the U.S. where soccer isn’t considered our national sport, cycling can sometimes be overlooked. If you’re passionate about the event, here’s where you can go to watch. Read the rest of this entry »

Could the 2020 Volkswagen Beetle be an electric vehicle?

It seems the fate of the highly-recognized VW Beetle is up in the air. Rumors have been flying back and forth about whether the Beetle has seen the end of its days (again) or if it will be re-envisioned as an electric vehicle. We thought for certain that the final word, based on a comment made at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, was that 2019 would be the last year for the model. More recently, though, the rumor mill has been putting out the idea that the 2020 Volkswagen Beetle could be an EV. Read the rest of this entry »

A month later, it was officially revealed. Yesterday, it was put to the test. The results were even better than expected, as it earned the all-time Pikes Peak International Hill Climb record for its speed at the 2018 race. This means it not only beat other all-electric entries, but was faster than conventional vehicles. Read: Gasoline. Read the rest of this entry »

VW Making A Golf Hybrid

48-V Mild Hybrid Volkswagen Golf Model

Most shoppers looking for an efficient alternative to gasoline models probably aren’t even aware that Volkswagen has a purely electric vehicle. That’s because the e-Golf isn’t available nationally, but is available exclusively in select states. It’s not difficult to see why, as charging stations are still a bit slow to pop up across the country and driving range is only starting to reach a practical point for everyday needs. A perfect balance of efficiency and range can still be found in hybrid models, but VW has stayed out of the game for far too long. It sounds like this is about to change with the announcement of a 48-V Milk Hybrid Volkswagen Golf model. As a best-seller globally, it only makes sense that the Golf should be the first to go hybrid. Read the rest of this entry »
